AA5

AA5 is the fifth book in an eleven volume set that examines the legacy and mythology of American photographer, Ansel Adams. AA5 makes a mess of the photographs made of objects in the Ansel Adams Archive at the Center for Creative Photography. Presented as a folio of prints on heavyweight paper, the “pages” can be shuffled or displayed at the discretion of the reader. The essay that accompanies the folio is screen-printed on the exterior of the folder and is fully legible only the folio has been opened and disassembled. An intention typographic “error” in the essay further complicates the viewers experience and underscores Happel Christian and Lewis’ desire to reevaluate how archive materials and information are documented or presented.
